The Mendham Township Police
Department consists of 14 police officers with two secretaries and one part time
administrative assistant. The department consists of a Patrol division and a Detective
bureau. The police department is dispatched 24 hours a day by the
SERVICES AVAILABLE The Mendham Township Police
Department offers additional services to the community aside from the primary
patrol functions of the department. These services consist of the following: Vacant
Home Checks- Provides for the inspection of residences while the
homeowners are away for an extended period of time. If you would like us to put
you on the list for the Vacant Home Checks,
you must contact us the day before your scheduled departure at 973-543-2581. Hunting
Permits- Hunting in
Firearms I.D and Pistol Purchase Permits- May

during the hours on Fee Schedule
for copies are: first page to tenth page (1-10) $0.75 per page; eleventh page to
twentieth page (11-20) $0.50; all pages over twenty $0.25 per page. Discovery
request packets are $25.00. Fingerprinting-
The police department provides fingerprinting for residents of the
township for a variety of reasons such as employment requirements. There is no
cost for township residents. Those needing to be fingerprinted must contact the Detective
Bureau at 973-543-2584. Resident
Crime Prevention Survey – The Shut
In Program- This program is designed to check on the welfare of our
residents that are confined to their house due to illness or other circumstance
beyond their control. An officer of the department will contact you by phone
periodically to ensure that you do not need additional assistance. If you would

Officers are available to conduct tours of police headquarters and make
presentations to groups or organizations relating to child safety, senior

The national drug resistance education program is taught in every school in Child
Safety Seats- The Mendham Township police department has two certified
child passenger safety restraint technicians. These two officers are available
to assist residents in the proper placement of child
safety seats in your vehicle. We offer free child passenger safety restraint
checks. To schedule your inspection contact Lt. James Hughes at 973-543-2584 or
Sgt. Vito Abrusci at 973-543-2581. Domestic Violence Crisis Response Team- The department has a team of trained volunteers from within the community to assist the victims of domestic violence. For additional information please click here. Traffic
