April 20, 2001 Dear Resident: Mendham Township has awarded a two-year contract to Blue Diamond Disposal, Inc. for the collection and disposal of garbage and trash beginning May 1, 2001. Garbage and trash with Waste Management stickers will not be collected beginning May 1, 2001. The weight stickers will continue to be available at the Mendham Apothecary as well as by mail. If you choose to purchase stickers by mail you must include a stamped self-addressed envelope with your order. The current sticker fee remains at $0.60 per 15 pounds of garbage and will be sold in packs of 10/$6.00. The mailing address for Blue Diamond Disposal, Inc. is P.O. Box 267, Succasunna, New Jersey 07876. Any unused Waste Management stickers may be returned to the Mendham Apothecary for a refund of the purchase price. A sticker must be affixed to each garbage bag or placed at the top of each container so as to be visible when the cover is removed and so that any sticker or stickers will accompany the garbage when picked up. Garbage includes all waste resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking or consumption of foods and normal household rubbish that is not recyclable. Bulk trash will also be picked up on your regular collection day. Bulk trash is defined as household furnishings furniture, mattresses, carpeting, and clothing and does NOT require a weight sticker. Bulk trash specifically EXCLUDES vegetative waste, construction and/or demolition materials, and automobile parts. Refrigerators, air conditioners, humidifiers, etc. must be certified as having had the freon removed.
Enclosed is a listing of all Township streets and roads and the collection days. Please note that some collection days will change and some pickup times may also change, so please be sure that you place your garbage and trash out for collection by 6:00 a.m. If you have any questions, call Stephen Mountain, Township Administrator or Penny Newell, Township Clerk at 973-543-4555. Sincerely, Brian J. Phelan Mayor
