MENDHAM TOWNSHIP CELEBRATES PHOTO CONTEST

Mendham Township ’s Open Space Trust Committee initiated a photo contest last year for residents of Mendham Township and Borough to enlist the creativity of residents and capture photos of the Township’s hundreds of acres of natural open space land.  Thirty-nine photographs were received from fourteen entrants.  On March 30, 2004 , the photos were placed on display in the Township building and an awards ceremony held.

Judging was performed by three independent photographers residing in the area: freelance and press photographer Gail Tramontano, noted contributor to National Geographic Mike Yamashita, and the owner of The Image Maker portrait studios, Joe Galioto.

Winners were:

Categories for adult entrants:

Ø      Mr. Rick Gartner in the “Scenery” category

Ø      Mr. Nigel Jewkes in the “Water” category

Ø      Mr. Paul McDonough in the “Close-ups of Nature” category

Ø      Mrs. Jennifer Wagar in the “People and animals” category.

Junior entrants:

Ø      Joe Marrett

Ø      Shane Mulcahy

Adult winners received a coveted book of the best National Geographic photographs, and each Junior winner received a gift certificate of equivalent value.  Honorable Mention certificates were also awarded.  Township Committee Member Rich Krieg presented the awards.
