FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MENDHAM BOROUGH & TOWNSHIP

In response to recent world events and the raising of the national and state alert levels to orange, officials from Mendham Township and Mendham Borough met to discuss and re-affirm municipal emergency management plans.

The Borough and Township are unique in that they have a joint emergency management structure, which includes a jointly appointed Emergency Management Coordinator and Local Emergency Management Planning Committee.

During the meeting emergency contact information was updated and the Domestic Preparedness Guidelines, prepared by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s Counter Terrorism Task Force was reviewed.  Officials agreed that copies of the guideline would be made available for the public at both municipal buildings, local libraries as well as on municipal websites.

Follow up discussions took place with the appropriate officials regarding emergency plans for local schools.

It is important to stress that neither municipality has received any specific warnings regarding threats to their communities.  Nether the less elected and appointed officials feel it is prudent to be prepared in the event of a natural or manmade disaster.

In addition to the guideline prepared by the Prosecutor’s office, residents who have internet access can obtain additional information at the following web sites:
