Township Clerk: The
Township Clerk serves as the clerk of and secretary to the Governing Body and in
this capacity prepares agendas, records minutes of all Township Committee meetings,
and retains all permanent Township records and documents. The Township Clerk
also serves as Municipal Election Official and is responsible for the administration of
the primary, general, and school elections.
Department of Recreation: The
Township provides a wide range of recreational and social activities through the
Department of Recreation. Recreation programs are conducted under the
direction of the Township's part time recreation director and five-member recreation
commission. The Department of Recreation is also responsible for the upkeep
and maintenance of the all Township recreation facilities. Residents
interested in providing input to the recreation commission on recreation-related
issues may do so by contacting the Department of Recreation or attending a
recreation commission meeting. Recreation commission meetings are held on
the first Wednesday of each month at Township Hall.
Department of Finance: The Finance Officer oversees all aspects of
finance within the Township, including tax collection, tax assessment, payroll,
purchasing and budgetary accounting. The Finance Officer administers the investment
program, borrowing and repayment of debt and interest, the rendering of all tax bills,
collection of all cash receivables and the maintenance of proper records associated with
the safekeeping of funds.
Department of Engineering: This department provides the direction,
planning, programming, and coordination of construction programs in the
Township and maintains theTownship tax maps. The Township Engineer is a licensed
professional, retained by the Township from a consulting firm, who provides engineering
services to all Township Boards and/or Committees, including the Planning Board, as
required.
Department of Public Works: This department is responsible for many
service programs, including the maintenance of streets, parks, and roads, as well as
the repair and maintenance of Township buildings and grounds.
Department of Police: The Township's Police force consists of eleven
police officers, two sergeants, and chief. Patrol services are provided
throughout the Township on a 24-hour basis.
Department of Health: Township residents are provided a full range
of health services as required by the New Jersey Local Health Services Act.
The Township contracts through an interlocal service agreement for a licensed
Health Officer who administers these programs as well as a comprehensive septic wastewater
management program throughout the Township.
Department of Code Enforcement: The Department administers and
enforces the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. The Department consists of a
fulltime licensed Construction Sub-Code Official and part time plumbing, electrical, and
Fire Sub-Code Officials.
COMMUNITY SERVICES
Fire Services: Fire Services in the Township are
provided by two volunteer fire companies on a
24-hour
a day basis in close cooperation with surrounding municipalities.
First Aid Squad: The Mendham Township First Aid Squad
provides 24-hour a day service to the
community
from two centrally located facilities.
