          The billing and collection of real estate property taxes is governed by state law and applies to every municipality in the State of New Jersey.  Your tax bill includes revenues collected by the Township on behalf of the municipality, county and school district.  Your tax bill is based on the assessed value of your property, and you pay taxes for every $100.00 of assessed value.


                             2016 FINAL/2017 PRELIMINARY TAX BILLS

2016 final/2017 preliminary tax bills have been mailed out.  The 4th quarter tax bill is due November 1st, 2016. The grace period is until November 10, 2016, close of business.  If you received an added/omitted bill, please note this bill is due in addition to your regular tax bill for the next three quarters. 


The Township of Mendham offers direct withdrawal for both tax and sewer payments.  There is no fee for this service.  For the forms to authorize direct withdrawal Click Here.  Payments for quarterly property taxes and/or sewer will be debited from the account on or around the payment due dates of February 1st, May 1st, August 1st and November 1st.  Your initial application for direct withdrawal must be received in the Tax Office no later than 30 days prior to the due date.  Please note, this authorization is to remain in full force and effect until Mendham Township has received written notification from the applicant of its termination a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to the next withdrawal. For a termination request withdrawal form Click Here.

Please keep your bill to pay all four quarters. The third and fourth quarter of the current year and the first and second quarter of the next year. There is a $5.00 duplicate bill fee. There is a ten day grace period for all payment of taxes including the 1st. Taxes must be received in the Tax Office by the 10th of Aug., Nov., Feb. and May.

Obtain and keep receipts of all tax payments: pay in person or by mail with a 
self-addressed stamped envelope to obtain a receipt.  Keep your receipts as proof 
of payment; there is a fee for a payment history printout.

Notify the tax office if you use a PO Box, refinance, change banks or start paying
taxes directly to the township.  This ensures the tax bill is mailed accurately.
