Township Acquires Bartenstein Tract

Mendham Township has acquired a 70 acre tract at the corner of Tempe Wick and Leddel Roads from Fred Bartenstein, a long time Mendham Township resident. The property was acquired through a partnership with the Morris County Park Commission, and Morris County Utilities Authority.
Mendham Township has acquired a 70 acre tract at the corner of Tempe Wick and Leddel Roads from Fred Bartenstein, a long time Mendham Township resident. The property was acquired through a partnership with the Morris County Park Commission, and Morris County Utilities Authority. The Township contributed $500,000 to the acquisition from its local Open Space Trust to combine with the Park Commission’s $1,000,000 and Municipal Utilities Authority’s $500,000 contribution. A grant of $1,850,000 was also received from the Morris County Open Space Trust in support of the acquisition. The total acquisition price was $3,850,000. The property will be preserved in perpetuity as parkland to be managed by the Morris County Park Commission. For digital image of a map illustrating the preserved property, please click here.
