Mendham Township Announces Official Internet Web Site

The Mendham Township Committee announced this week that the Township has launched its own official site on the world wide web. The site’s address is http://www.mendhamtownship.org.

"We are pleased and excited to announce Mendham Township’s official site on the World Wide Web" said Mayor Katie Porter. "The internet is a wonderful tool for sharing information and ideas and we are glad the Township will now have a place on the web designed specifically for our community."

Visitors to the site will be greeted with the logo for the Township’s 250th celebration and a brief welcome message to the site. A menu outlining the various sub-sections of the site offers a site overview for new users. A search feature is also provided to help visitors with a specific interest locate the information more efficiently.

The sub-sections of the site include information about the community, local history, municipal services, town officials and a calendar of upcoming municipal activities. Other sub-sections include up to date information on such important activities as the Township’s 250th anniversary celebration and preparations for the Year 2000.

Individuals looking to contact the municipality electronically will be able to do so using the site’s electronic links feature. In addition, the site also contains links to other web sites of local interest. Among these are links to sites for the local schools, Township Library and other state and local government agencies.

The Mendham Township web site was created through a partnership between Township staff and community volunteers. The volunteer web site committee includes township residents, Mary Mazoh, David Bailin, Hilary Wilder and Kevin Bowra. Mendham High School student, Jake Bryant provided the technical design and support for the site. Jake donated over 100 hours of his time constructing the site and will continue to serve as webmaster for the site. Thanks to the efforts of these volunteers, the use of off the shelf software and a local internet service provider, the entire site cost the Township less than $500 to construct.

"We are tremendously grateful to all the volunteers and township staff who have worked to create this web site," said Mayor Porter. "Their hard work and effort has produced a truly wonderful community resource."

Questions or comments about the site can be sent to the Township through the electronic mail feature provided on the web site.
